Heated Gloves at 100 km/h - On a Motorized Kick Scooter!
Let's take a little trip outside Sandvika, where a young and innovative inventor with the catchy name Christine Tybring-Torsk has done something incredible - she has built her own motorized kick scooters! As if that wasn't enough, Christine is now attempting to break the world record for motorized kick scooters. Her goal is to reach a speed of over 130 km/h on her scooter. We at Heat Experience are proud to have such a speed-loving girl as an ambassador, and it's important to us that she doesn't freeze her fingers when she zooms past at a hundred.
We went to Høvik to meet Norway's female counterpart to Reodor Felgen, and on top of that, we were lucky enough to test a motorized kick scooter ourselves.

Is it complicated to use?
HeatX: Hi, Christine. Thanks for last time. It's been a while since we had so much fun on the ice, and we have to admit it was the first time we've seen a similar vehicle around here. How did you come up with the idea of building these motorized kick scooters?
Torsk: Well, how did I actually come up with it? I like speed and excitement. Kick scooters are a classic Norwegian means of transportation in winter, so why not just add a motor?
HeatX: That's insanely cool. When did you build your first one, and how do you build them?
Torsk: About 7 years ago? I can't remember exactly, but it's been a while. I disassemble dirt bikes, weld together a frame, and modify the engine to fit. Finally, I attach a wheel that I spike with regular screws. Then I disassemble everything, paint it, put it back together, and off I go. It started with a 150cc, and the largest one I have now is a 450cc KTM dirt bike. The biggest one I ever built was over 1000cc, but even that was too much for me.
HeatX: Wow, you impress us. Now, on to the question that many people are probably wondering about, and it came up a lot when we were out riding and talking to people. Is it actually legal to ride them, and what do the police say when they see you?
Torsk: It's allowed to ride them on saltwater and restricted areas. The police are mostly cool, and I still haven't received any fines or had them confiscated. They've even tried it themselves a couple of times, and they think it's fun too. Overall, it's been a great atmosphere, but it's important to wear a life jacket as they are classified as a boat/jet ski.
HeatX: Impressive. Do the kick scooters have room for improvement, and do you plan to further develop them in the future?
Torsk: YES! I'm currently building a two-seater, among other things, and there's definitely a lot of room for improvement, so stay tuned for the future. I have plenty of ideas up my sleeve. You can even build an electric kick scooter if you want, although I have to admit I prefer gasoline and exhaust. We'll see if the Green Party throws in some money from the oil fund 😉
HeatX: That's noted. We can imagine there's a lot of interest in these kick scooters, and we noticed how many curious looks we received when we were out on the ice. Do you receive many inquiries in your inbox during a season?
Torsk: I receive some, but I don't do much promotion. Most of it happens randomly when I meet people on the ice. I could probably create a website, but I stick to the workshop and the ice, and people can contact me if they're interested.
HeatX: Well, we hope our visit can contribute to increased interest for the next season. Thanks for the chat, Christine. It's been a pleasure getting to know you.
Torsk: Thank you too. Let us know if you want to come out and test the backpack one day?
HeatX: Backpack?
Torsk: Yes! It's another invention I have to travel faster in the ski slopes!
HeatX: We're not surprised. Of course, we'll join you. Stay tuned for the next episode, as they say :)
